A Hollywood removes all the hair from the pubic area front and back. A Brazilian removes almost all hair from the pubic area front and back but leaves either a landing strip or a small triangle.
Hair removal is never painless as you are removing a full hair from its follicle and if you have been a shaver/hair removal cream user your hair will be at its thickest for your first wax however this will reduce with each waxing experience as the hair softens and thins. If you have had a stressful day, aren't feeling 100% or are close to your menstrual cycle then waxing can be a little more uncomfortable. If you decide to wax during your menstrual cycle, we always ask clients to come prepared with a fresh tampon for during their wax. Forget your friend's nightmare experience 5 years ago and make your own mind up because it really isn't that bad when in the hands of a skilled waxer!
I would always recommend after shaving that you have a minimum of 3 weeks growth. Any less than this and it is likely that not all the hair has grown so you won't achieve a long lasting wax. First waxes after shaving are never going to be 'silky smooth' as hairs don't grow at an even rate when shaving so it will take 2 -3 waxes to start getting a complete Hollywood/Brazilian.
NO! That is what I am here for. If you do it yourself, you run the risk of over trimming which will reduce the results of your wax. Don't worry that it will be too long because too short is far worse. I will trim if necessary.
We cannot wax you if you fall under any of the following categories:
a. You are using any Retinol products i.e. Retin A, Renova etc. on your bikini line or brow area.
b. You are using Accutane.
c. You have any kind of sunburn, laser burn, pustules or breakouts on the area to be waxed.
d. You are diabetic. However, we can wax you if you supply a doctor’s note saying its okay for you to wax.
It’s best not to. Your skin will be too sensitive. Remember, waxing is an exfoliation. However, airbrush tanning after a wax is ok.
My appointment slots for Hollywood/Brazilian waxes is 30 minutes but this includes consultation and time for the client to get ready before and after the treatment. General treatment time will be no longer than 20 minutes and this will decrease the more you wax as the hair will be removed easier and there will ultimately be less hair!
This varies from client to client. After the first few waxes, it is generally a 4 week wax routine that people will adopt. However, some clients can push to 6-8 weeks between waxes.
No, quite the opposite. Hair will become thinner and finer the more you wax the less will grow.
I would never recommend this to a client. You will never benefit from the wax if you don't do it on a regular and consistent basis.
Certain medications & products thin out the skin making it more likely for you to peel or burn during your waxing session. Always tell your therapist any medications you are taking during your consultation and she will discuss whether this affects your treatment.
If this is your first ever wax you are likely to feel some mild discomfort post wax especially if your hair has been very coarse from shaving or hair removal use. All skin types react in different ways but sensitivity should lessen once you become used to waxing. We will always recommend not to wear any tight clothing post wax on any areas in case of friction or sensitivity post wax. And don’t go straight to a gym session or do anything that may cause lots of friction on the skin. In fact it's best just to not wear underwear post wax where possible to allow the skin to breathe. Aftercare is the most important thing for post wax sensitivity so when we say no sunbeds or gym etc. please listen as this really can have an effect on your skin post wax. I will recommend the best aftercare products depending on your skin at time of waxing.
If you are a newbie to waxing then we recommend a minimum of 3 weeks hair growth from last hair removal whether that is shaving or hair removal creams. If you don't leave the hair long enough then it can be at an early stage of the growth cycle and there may not be enough to grip with the wax. We always recommend if you have a big event coming up like a wedding, hen weekend or holiday to have a minimum of 2 waxes before this as your results will ultimately be better after the 2nd wax and this way you know your skin's reaction if any to waxing to avoid any redness etc for the big event!
All hair grows in different cycles so it is impossible to say how long any one person's wax results will last especially after the first wax. If you have been a shaver/hair removal cream user the results will likely only get better with time as the hair is never completely grown out after one growth cycle and often after a first wax some of the shaved hair will make an appearance within the first week this is completely normal. It will take time to get that silky smooth result that we all want. However, stick with it and it will pay off massively!
Yes of course. Just know the facts a) you will be more sensitive, and b) you must wear a clean tampon. Pop an ibuprofen 20 minutes before. It may help.
Yes you can. Although we do stand firm that we will wait until the 12 week scan for the all clear to go ahead with a Brazilian/Hollywood again. I would also recommend if you have never waxed before you start at 12 weeks instead of waiting to the last minute before your due date to get your first ever wax. This way your hair growth and sensitivity will have reduced over the months of your pregnancy making each wax less difficult for you.
Of course we do. Male grooming is no longer the taboo subject it used to be. Men are just as entitled to a little bit of preening as we girls are.
